Learning To Play A Piano Bass

Learning to play the organ is quite a difficult task, and adding a piano bass to it is asking a lot. The piano is quite easy to play. You just have to memorize the chords and follow the tune in order to come up with good music. You simply have to gain control of both your right and left hand to be able to deliver beautiful music. Alongside that is chord memorization plus a love for music. However, if you include playing the piano bass with the keyboard, it takes a while before you can learn how to play well. It will require more precision and timing on the player’s hands.

Piano Bass In Your Keyboards

If you have been playing long enough with an organ, then you probably know what bass pedals are. They are available in two forms, as a separate unit and as a tool that you can connect to your keyboard. You simply have to connect them using the cables and you will have a piano bass in an instant.

If it is your first time to use these pedals, they can be quite daunting at first. Even if you have played the piano for a long time, you’ll have a bit of difficulty handling these units. Suddenly incorporating the movement of your feet plus the movement of your hands is somehow a tricky task. Simultaneously, you have to move your hands on either the left or right direction and your foot has to move as well.

Learning To Play The Piano Bass

Ideally speaking, your left hand should coincide with the movement of your bass foot. So when you press a chord using your left hand, then it should be played together on the piano bass pedal. A good example would be playing a C chord using your left hand and playing it with the C piano bass pedal using the left foot. Although it may sound simple, it is a bit tricky to graduate to playing both units.

Here are five simple steps that could help you in your first try with the piano bass pedal. Try an exercise which can help teach you distances between piano bass pedals, play with more accuracy and deal with speed later on, repeat a sequence of tune on the pedal and do it again about ten times, practice some notes and play them slowly but with much precision, and lastly, try playing chromatic scale up and down with the use of chords and piano bass pedals.

With all the tips given above, and with much determination in your practice, you can definitely play the piano bass without having to look at your foot.
